New Delhi: Marvel created its first titular superhero of colour Black Panther and created history making $1 Billion on the box office. Now the creatives at Marvel are using the same trick for gender equality.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is the sequel to Ant-Man which released in 2015. It is Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s 20th release of this decade, and it is the first time a female superhero has been featured in the title.

At  global press day for the movie in Pasadena, southern Caalifornia on Sunday, Kevin Feige, the president of Disney-owned Marvel Studios, told news agency AFP,"We always knew that the next one was going to be Ant-Man and the Wasp."

Evangeline Lilly featured in the Ant-Man movie as Hope van Dyne but she didn’t get to wear a superhero costume.

Wasp’s origin story was originaly supposed to be introduced in Captain America :Civil War, which came in 2016 and featured Ant-Man and other Avengers.

Lilly said, she got a call saying that they had decided not to put her in Civil War, and in that moment she was very sorry, and even worried if she would even get a movie. To which they replied,” 'We really want to dedicate a film to introducing this female superhero and we don't want her just to be a side note."
