Batti Gul Metre Chalu Movie Review: Shahid Kapoor Lights Up The Screen With His High Voltage Performance

Still From The Movie 'Batti Gul Metre Chalu'

New Delhi: Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Batti Gul Metre Chalu hits the theatres today. The movie talks about the power outage and inflated electricity bills problems. The director of the movie Shree Narayan Singh earlier made the movie 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha', on another social issue- public defacation, and was really appreciated for that. This movie features a high voltage performance by all of the star cast- be it Shahid or Shraddha or Yami Gautum or Divyendu Sharma.

However, this one by Shree Narayan Singh is a hit and miss. Just when you feel the movie is starting to touch the topic it promises to, it flees to a different direction and starts to focus more on the love triangle. The first half of the movie feels dragged. The editing has been poorly done.

The court room drama magically turns up into a revolution, which seems superficial. After Padmavat, this is another one of Shahid Kapoor's brilliant performances. He has totally adorable with his role as the cheeky lawyer, who is petty but then turns heroic. Shraddha Kapoor is decent. Divyendu steals the show every time he comes on screen. Yami Gautum has a limited screen time, but she managed to do an amazing job none the less.

It is an entertaining film, but had it been trimmed up nicely, it could have been much better one. But still you can give it a shot.
