The movie is helmed by Shashank Khaitan and it is the Hindi remake of Marathi blockbuster Sairat. In their review of Dhadak, dailyadda wrote,"Dhadak is a beautiful love story that celebrates the innocence of the young love and the pain that it brings. The movie has made some to its original inspiration, but the story stays same for the most part. The movie came with a big responsiblity of being a remake of "Sairat", which was deeply loved by people, but "Dhadak" stands out in itself."

Janhvi told news agency IANS, "Sairat is really special and iconic film but we are trying to show that story through new perspective. We just want one chance from the audience to watch the film as we have made this with lot of hard work and honesty."
