DU Admission 2018:  So Far 3.38 Lakh Register For Merit And Entrance Based

New Delhi: The Delhi University has recieved more than three lakh students have registered for about 55,000 seats in undergraduate courses -- merit and entrance-based both. The online registration portal closes on June 7 at 5 p.m.

More than 2,40,000 of these registrations were made for merit-based course, the remaining entries were for entrances.

Entrances for the courses are available, B.A. (Hons) Business Economics, Bachelor of Management Studies, B.Tech, Five year integrated journalism course, etc.

The total number of male candidates 1,53,754 and female candidates are  1,31,381 and 80 'others'.

This year's figure is anticipated to overpass last year's figure. The previous year 3.3 lakh candidates applied and 2.2 lakh completed the registration process by making the payment.

A member of the admission committee told news agency IANS, "The number will pick in the remaining days. In fact, it's already gaining speed. We expect the total paid registrations to be around 2.4 lakh this time (for merit-based courses), exceeding last year's 2.2 lakh."

The admission process commenced on May 15. Unlike last year, this year the registration begun same day for both merit-based and entrance-based courses. 

The cut-off list will be released soon. The students who applied  for merit-based will be able to know whether they are eligible to take admission in colleges of their choice or not. The schedule for entrance tests is yet to be announced.
