Game of thrones finale taking so long: writers explain why

New Delhi: Game of thrones the most popular television series and the record breaker in Emmy awards is all set to fire the screens next  year in 2019 with its last season that is 8th. But the show is taking very long to go on air and checking the patience of the audience. The latest season that went on air was season 7 that was in 2107 and till then everyone is eagerly waiting for the show. As this is the last season of the show the makers want it to be the best.

Game of Thrones show-runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss said the final season was taking time because they were going for quality over quantity. They explained the reason why the show is taking so long  as they  want to make the last season the memorable one for everyone as the show is going to end. The last season that is 8th will have only 6 episodes and will premiere next year before June. This is going to be the biggest show ever according to the makers.

"The final season’s taking a long time because it’s the biggest thing we’ve ever done. It was nearly a full year in Belfast either prepping it or actually shooting it. I think when people see it they’re going to understand why it took so long. The last season is far beyond what we’ve ever attempted before, Benioff told reporters backstage at Prime time Emmy Awards.

Game of thrones bagged its third Emmy for the outstanding drama series on Monday after winning it consecutively for the third time after year 2015 and 2016. The show won total nine trophies, the highest, at the award ceremony, including a third win for Peter Dinklage in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Author George RR Martin also said that "he wanted the series to go longer. We could’ve gone 11, 12, 13 seasons. David and Dan have been saying for like five seasons that seven seasons is all they would go. We got them to go to eight but not any more than that. There was a period like five years ago when they were saying seven seasons and I was saying 10 seasons and they won, they’re the ones actually working on it,”

GOT wrapped its shooting and now it is ready for the premiere of the show next year that is 2019 before June.
