Happy Birthday MS Dhoni, The Former Indian Captain Turns 37 Today

New Delhi: India's former captain, wicket-keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni turns 37 today. Dhoni has captained India through three ICC trophies win- T20 World Cup 2007, World Cup 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013. He is also undoubtedly one of the best wicket keepers in the world.

Born on 7 July, 1981 in Ranchi, Bihar, Dhoni made his ODI debut vs Bangladesh at MA Aziz Stadium on Dec 23, 2004. Dhoni made his name in the international cricket playing 148 and 183 run ODI innings within a year of his debut.

 


 Earlier in his career, there were a lot of questions made regarding his unorthodox batting style, but he managed to shut them up by proving himself to be a multi-faceted batsman, the one who could accumulate, rebuild and then hit big sixes in the end.

Dhoni first got the chance to show his captaincy skills in the 2007 T20 World Cup, where he led a young, totally inexperienced side to becoming the world champions. After that there was no looking back for Dhoni. After that he went on to lead India to winning the ODI world cup after 28 years, scoring 91 in the final game against Sri Lanka.

 

 

A biopic was also made on Dhoni's life titled 'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story' which released in 2016. The movie was a big hit at the box-office, ended up collecting more than 200 crores.
