In First Meet On Kartarpur,  India, Pak Hold "Constructive Discussions" 

New Delhi: Officials from India and Pakistan today held, a first meeting on the Kartarpur corridor issue, in which they discussed on setting up a corridor linking the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistani town of Kartarpur with Gurdaspur district in Punjab.

A joint press statement said that both sides held "detailed and constructive discussions" in a "cordial enviroment" on various aspects of the proposed agreement. The meeting was held in Attari.

Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, SCL Das led the Indian delegation and Dr Mohammad Faisal, DG (SA & SAARC) of Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs led the Pakistan delegation.

After the Pulwama terror attack, the tensions between the two nation escalated. The meeting between the two nation, comes amid heightened tensions.

"Both sides held detailed and constructive discussions on various aspects and provisions of the proposed agreement and agreed to work towards expeditiously operationalizing the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor," the joint statement read.

April 2 has been chosen as the date for the next meeting. However, before that technical experts will hold a meeting on March 19 to finalise the alignment.
