Manmarziyaan Movie Review: This Is Anurag Kashyap Like Never Before

New Delhi : If you are going into theatre expecting it to be a typical Anurag Kashyap film, you are going to be surprised. After making 12 films that deal with violence, murder and crime, he has finally landed his eyes on romantic genre. And boy! had he delivered.

While the movie might remind some people of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam', but 'Manmarziyaan' has a very unique flavour that Anurag Kashyap brings on to the table. One of the things that sets this movie apart from Him Dil De Chuke Sanam or Tanu Weds Manu is the dark undertone to the scenes, displaying love in a very realistic way. The movie might not appeal to everyone, but the it's target audience will surely love it.

Kanika Dhillon, has wrote the script, screenplay and dialogues and she is excellent in all departments. The first half of the movie is crazy fun and entertaining. The second half, however feels a bit stretched, especially the climax. It is also more melodramatic. The movie has the proper of humour, romance and drama.

Taking about acting, Tapsee Pannu is brilliant in her performance, but it is Vicky Kaushal who is the star of the movie. The man who started from Masaan has came very far and there is no stopping him now. Undoubtedly, he is the future star of Bollywood. Abhishek Bachchan who is making a comeback after two years, is decent. The music of the movie, by Amit Trivedi is well placed.

The thing that sets this movie apart from other romantic movies is Anurag Kashyap. Great dialogues backed with brilliant performances, makes this movie an entertaining watch.
