Movie Review: Dhadak Retains The Innocence Of the Original Movie Sairat

A Still From Dhadak Movie

New Delhi: "Dhadak" is a beautiful Hindi adaptation of Marathi blockbuster film "Sairat". It is usually seen that in a remake, the movie generally loses its heart. But Director Shashank Khaitan has managed to retain the innocence of the original film, which with the added humour in the first half, makes it a compelling watch.
Dhadak is a beautiful love story that celebrates the innocence of the young love and the pain that it brings. The movie has made some to its original inspiration, but the story stays same for the most part. The movie came with a big responsiblity of being a remake of "Sairat", which was deeply loved by people, but "Dhadak" stands out in itself.

The movie marks the Bollywood debut of Ishaan Khattar and you know from the first scene that he is here to stay. His performance is one of the big reasons that Dhadak works. Jhanvi Kapoor, the daughter of late Sridevi also makes her debut with this movie. Given, its her first movie, Jhanvi has managed to do a decent job. Ashutosh Rana is terrific in his performance as the baddie, and even though he has a limited screen time, he leaves a mark with his performance.

The only challenge that the movie faces is that people who have watched "Sairat" already know about the big plot twists. But it doesn't matter, the movie can still be thoroughly enjoyed for the newness that the two debutants  bring to the screen along with beautiful landscapes showcased by the director.

The music of the movie is given by Ajay Atul, who were also the music directors in the original. The music works well with the plot. Most of the songs are recreated from "Sairat", so there is nothing much to say, except they are good.

So to sum it up, Dhadak is beautiful to watch. If you haven't seen Sairat, you will love it. If you have, you can still enjoy it.
