Everything You Need To Know About Children’s Day! 

New Delhi: November 14, the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru is celebrated as Children's Day. The first Prime Minister of India, Mr Nehru, due to his love for children was fondly known as Chacha Nehru.

This day, points out the importance of giving love, attention and affection to children. “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country,” said Nehru.

The first Prime Minister of India, was a very strong advocate of the importance of education when it came to children. He was involved in establishing All India Institute of Medical Sciences, the Indian Institutes of Technology, the Indian Institutes of Management and the National Institutes of Technology.

The day is celebrated by hosting cultural programs, functions and events in school, colleges and societies. Many times, teachers also participate in these functions in order to show their love and affection for children.

November 14 was observed as Children’s Day only after Nehru’s demise in 1964. Before that, the Children's Day in India was celebrated on November 20, that is the Universal Children’s Day as declared by the UN.
