Virat Kohli Becomes The Fastest To Score 10,000 ODI Runs, Surpasses Tendulkar 

New Delhi: Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper has broken yet another record.  He became the fastest batsman in the world to score 10,000 runs in ODI's . Virat was just 81 runs short of the milestone, when he came out to bat in the second ODI's against the Windies. The Indian captain who is playing his 213th ODI, took a single off spinner Ashley Nurse to join the elite list. He also scored his 37th ODI century, in the match.

Earlier, the record was held by Sachin Tendulkar, who did it in 259 in 2001, while Virat achieved the feat in 205 innings. 

 

With this milestone, Virat has become the fifth Indian batsman and 13th overall to score 10,000 runs in the 50-over format. 

In the terms of age, Kohli is the second youngest (29y 353d) to achieve the milestone after Tendulkar (27y 341d).

2018 was a great year for Virat Kohli as he scored 1000 ODI runs in just 11 matches at an average of 143.43. His commendable average, helped him outshine his competitors.

The 29 year old batsman also holds the record of scoring 1,000 ODI runs in a calendar year in fewest innings (11) breaking his own record of 2012 (15 innings).

The Indian captain, on wednesday had completed 4,000 runs in ODIs at home. He became the fastest to do so as he took just 78 innings as compared to Tendulkar's 92. 

Virat Kohli also took over Tendulkar's aggregate of 1,573 to become India's highest run-getter in ODIs against the Windies.
