New Delhi: The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli showed yet another exceptional batting performance on Sunday as India defeated the Windies by eight wickets in the first ODI. The match was played at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati and India managed take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Star batsman, Kohli and Rohit Sharma notched up big centuries as India achieved the 323-run with ease, thanks to the 246-run partnership for the second wicket. 

The match with a mamoth total was finished just in 42.1 overs. The run machine Virat Kohli smashed his 36th ODI century, taking him closer to the 10,000-run mark in ODIs. 

Kohli, who has scored 889 ODI runs in just 10 matches. With 889, Kohli is at fourth place in the ODI scoring charts in 2018.

English players, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Jason Roy have all scored more ODI runs than the Indian captain this year but the difference in averages are eye-popping. The Indian captain has scored 889 runs in just 10 OD, at an average of 127, while Bairstow, who tops the list, has taken 22 matches to score 1,025 runs and averages 46.59.

The second in the list, Joe Root has scored 936 runs in 23 matches at an average of 62.40 while Jason Roy has scored 890 runs in 21 ODIs at an average of 42.38.

That means Kohli's average is more than double of Root and nearly triple than that of Bairstow and Roy.

This year, Virat Kohli scored four centuries and three fifties. With four more ODIs against the West Indies left, the Indian skipper can outshine three Englishman and take the top spot.
