Lasith Malinga Claims 4 Wickets In 4 Balls In 3rd T20I Against NZ 

New Delhi: The Sri Lankan fast bowler, Lasith Malinga claimed four wickets in as many balls to dismantle New Zealand in the third and final Twenty20 International in Pallekele on Friday. Malinga, bowled the third over of the match, in which he sent Colin Munro, Hamish Rutherford, Colin de Grandhomme and Ross Taylor back to the pavilion. The 4 wickets fell off consecutive deliveries to reduce the visitors to 15/4 in 3 overs. Moreover, the 36-year-old also became the first bowler in T20Is to claim 100 wickets.

On Sunday, The Sri Lankan bowler surpassed Shahid Afridi's record of 97 wickets to become the leading T20 wicket-taker on Sunday, bowled Colin Munro to get a century of wickets in his 76th match.

The speedster came back into the attack in the 5th over to remove Tim Seifert and completed his 2nd five-wicket haul in the shortest format of the game.

Malinga's efforts saw New Zealand being dismissed for 88, while chasing 126, in 16 overs.

Malinga's career-best figures of 5/6 in his four overs gave Sri Lanka a consolation win by 37 runs. New Zealand won the series 2-1.

 

Malinga, who once achieved a similar feat in the 2007 50-over World Cup in South Africa, took his T20I career tally to 104.

Known for bowling yorkers with his slinging action, Malinga made his T20 debut against England in 2006.

The Slinga Malinga had claimed 101 wickets from 30 Tests and 338 scalps in 226 ODIs.
